Who do you think wins the battle of tabs? We are here comparing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 with the Blackberry Playbook and trying to find out which of the two is the better one.
Display:
- Both has 7 inch multi-touch screen.
- 170 ppi is the pixel density for the tabs.
- Almost the same.
Winner: Well, it’s a draw!
Form:
- Samsung weighs lighter than Playbook. Yes. 344 g vs. 425 g.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is lighter and thinner than the older tabs.
- The display and touch is almost the same as its predecessor.
- Playbook has a strong and good built feeling but not bulky.
- The screen size is bit larger than galaxy Tab 2.
- The Playbook gives a business tab feeling when you use it.
Winner: Blackberry Playbook.
Storage:
- Both the tabs come for 16 GB and 32 GB option.
- Samsung comes with 8 GB tab also.
- Samsung has microSD slot in all the models, Playbook doesn’t have it.
- Because of the microSD slot, expandable memory makes Samsung a clear winner.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
Camera:
- Galaxy has a front and rear camera of VGA and 3.15 MP respectively.
- The resolution is 2048 x 1536 pixels.
- It is geo Tagging and Smile Detector enabled.
- Playbook takes the lead with 5MP camera and 2592×1944 resolution pixels.
- Front camera is 3 MP.
Winner: Sorry, Clear Winner: Blackberry Playbook.
- Galaxy runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
- Android 4.0 is absolutely different than Honeycomb and much descent.
- Blackberry has Playbook OS 2.0.
- Playbook OS is touch oriented OS, which has no physical buttons and swipe does it all.
- Blackberry has brought email services in Playbook.
- In the entire major specs as drop down tray, multi tasking etc we found Android 4.0 much better.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
Processor:
- Playbook has 1 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor with OMAP 4430 chipset.
- Has a GPU of PowerVR SGX540.
- Performance is really smooth and quite fast.
- Galaxy has not yet revealed the chipset but we don’t expect usual high performance Exynos as Samsung has plans to make Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 an affordable one.
- Overall performance wise both are equal.
Conclusion:
Our conclusion is that Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is our winner. Galaxy Tab 2 has ICS and which is thousand times better than Playbook OS 2.0. Blackberry can never give you the huge Apps collection what Android Market can offer. Galaxy tab 2 may have some loose ends, but it definitely is a better option to playbook.
